Ongoing Initiatives & Support
The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic is currently engaging with Senate through its Curriculum Committee and Academic Policy Committee to evaluate and enhance the current policy on academic reviews and the process for new program proposals at UBC Okanagan.
In addition, the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic is leading the creation of a UBC web application to support program curriculum mapping through a learning outcomes approach.
Centre for Teaching and Learning
The Centre for Teaching and Learning can provide consultations and workshops for teaching, learning, and curriculum development (including writing learning outcomes), as well as guide or assist course, assessment, and curriculum development initiatives within Faculties or Departments.
Program-Level Learning Outcomes or Competencies
As stated in Shaping UBC’s Next Century, under strategy 12 on program redesign, UBC is moving toward using learning outcomes as a primary organizing principle of program structure and completion. This work requires meaningful collaboration between students, faculty, staff, and in many cases, alumni.
If your department or program requires support in identifying or evaluating program-level learning outcomes, please contact the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic for support and resources.
