Portfolio Units
Advancing the high standard of academics on campus is a key imperative of the Provost’s office. In this effort, the Provost oversees portfolio units across the campus. The charge of these offices ranges broadly but they all work to improve the educational experience.
Centre for Teaching and Learning
The Centre for Teaching and Learning’s mission is “To promote, inspire, and support excellence, leadership, scholarship, and technologies in teaching and learning.” The Centre for Teaching and Learning serves all faculties and schools at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. The Centre also provides support for graduate students/teaching assistants, post-doctoral fellows/scholars, and sessional/adjunct faculty.
International Office
The International Office within the Office of the Provost provides strategic direction and support for UBC’s international activities. They advise on partnership development and serve as a central unit for coordinating the campus’ international activities and portfolios. The Okanagan International Office works closely with UBC Okanagan faculties and units and collaboratively with the UBC International Office located on the Vancouver campus.
Library
UBC Library advances research, learning and teaching excellence by connecting communities, within and beyond the university, to the world’s knowledge. UBC Okanagan Library is a proactive campus leader that delivers exceptional service in a vibrant learning space. “We bring you a world of knowledge; you bring the inspiration to change it.”
Planning and Institutional Research
The Planning and Institutional Research (PAIR) office supports academic and administrative planning and decision-making for UBC. Data and analytic support are provided for enrolment planning and academic program reviews through online dashboards. the PAIR team researches and reports information about the university and its environment in support of key initiatives at UBC.
The PAIR office handles internal and external student surveys. Annual and ongoing reports are also a responsibility of the PAIR office and are used within the university community and for accountability reporting to the government. Through these efforts PAIR aims to support integrated university planning, strengthen student learning, and promote a deeper understanding of the nature and quality of education at UBC.
