Each year, UBC Okanagan recognizes exemplary role models in our teaching and learning community who demonstrate a strong commitment to creating positive learning environments for students and contributing to a supportive teaching and learning community with the UBC Okanagan Teaching Awards.
Nominations are now open for the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation and the Killam Teaching Prize.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation: Up to three Provost’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and Innovation are awarded each year to recognize faculty making an impact in our teaching and learning community at every stage of their career, with two awards designated for tenure and tenure-track faculty members and one award designated for lecturers. Nominations for this award are accepted from students, faculty, deans, unit heads, staff and alumni.
About the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation
Killam Teaching Prize: Expanded to include two awards in 2026, the Killam Teaching Prize is awarded each year to faculty members with a continuing appointment who have distinguished themselves as exemplary teacher with a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation throughout their career. Deans, associate deans and department heads are invited to submit nominations for this award.

KEY DATES
- September 24: Nominations open
- November 7: Nominations close; Deadline to submit Intent to Nominate form to Deans’ Office
- November 21: Dean’s Office advises nominees of their nomination
- January 9: Draft nomination package submitted to Deans’ Office
- January 16: Dean’s Office reviews the nomination package and submits to Provost’s Office
